How do you speak to your child?
Adults often use a special style of speech when they talk to children: they use simpler words, form simpler sentences and change the melody of their voice and how they move their bodies to keep the child’s attention. Some scientists think that this special speech style is universal—they think it can be found in all human cultures. What do you think? In this task you will hear recordings of people talking in different languages. Can you guess whether the person is talking to an adult or a child? Children and infants are very welcome to listen along.
